Butterfly Cry

Image from the original painting 100 x 150 cm by John McDonald depicting this Mexican Heroine in red, yellow and black indigenous Tehuana costume, with silver earring, red braided headscarf, and red floral head dress, on a turquoise and soft green background. The Mexican heroine's tears are represented as colorful butterflies, one for each year of her life. Forty-six butterflies may be easily counted, and the forty-seventh is hidden somewhere else in the portrait.
